Is your home assessed higher than similar homes?
Free check using the county's own public records. Enter your address and see how your appraisal district's value compares with similar homes in your neighborhood. No account needed.
We search your county's public records. Single-family homes in Harris and Dallas (TX) and Broward, Miami-Dade, Hillsborough and Orange (FL) counties for now. Start with the street number.
Not an appraisal. This compares county records only. Condition, upgrades and other things the records do not contain matter, and some protests fail even when the numbers look strong. How we compare.
How a property tax appeal works
- Look at your notice of appraised value and your record on your county appraisal district or property appraiser site.
- Gather evidence: similar homes appraised lower, and recent sales if you have them.
- File your own protest (Texas: appraisal district) or petition (Florida: value adjustment board) by the deadline on your notice. See HCAD's protest page DCAD's site or Florida DOR's value adjustment board page for forms, hearing rules and dates.
- Keep copies of everything and note your hearing date.
Deadlines are set by the county and by your notice. Confirm them on your county's official page before you act. We do not file anything for you.
