AssessCheck

Is your Texas home assessed higher than similar homes?

Free check using the county's own public records. Enter your address and see how your appraisal district's value compares with similar homes in your neighborhood. No account needed.

We search your county's public records. Single-family homes in Harris and Dallas counties, TX, for now. Start with the street number.

Not an appraisal. This compares county records only. Condition, upgrades and other things the records do not contain matter, and some protests fail even when the numbers look strong. How we compare.

How a Texas property tax protest works

  1. Look at your notice of appraised value and your record on your appraisal district's site (HCAD for Harris, DCAD for Dallas).
  2. Gather evidence: similar homes appraised lower, and recent sales if you have them.
  3. File your own protest with your appraisal district by the deadline on your notice. See HCAD's protest page or DCAD's site for forms, hearing rules and dates.
  4. Keep copies of everything and note your hearing date.

Deadlines are set by the county and by your notice. Confirm them on your appraisal district's page before you act. We do not file anything for you.
